my collection

I don't have a collection. Well, I certainly have baseball cards but excluding my Blue Jays box and my sets, I have no collection. I have cards in boxes or stacks on my table here, some trade boxes next to me that NEED to get out which will probably tomorrow or Friday. I apologize for the lateness of getting these out, but things are hectic around here with my schedule ramping up like it normally does this time of year until December is over and planning and getting ready for the wife and I's wedding the 24th of this month. Yeah shes not technically the wife yet, but I'll still call her that due to it feeling like we are married already. Anyway, back to what I was saying about a collection. I see many of you guys having good collections like plays at the plate, awesome beards, funny names, pitchers holding bats, etc. Its almost like I can't have the cards out of their proper order. I have sort of an OCD and can't allow things to be out of order, it just bugs me until they are arranged numerically. Maybe I need to tell myself to shut up and take some great cards out for me to keep. Well, regardless of the hectic household, I'm still trying to do a post a day. The 2010 Chrome experiment is almost finished and I'm just waiting to get the cards here. I'll keep you posted with that plus if I allow myself to start a collection of my own and what it contains.

  1. You could start a collection of insert out of the ordinary type of card here and organize them by year then number. I have to say since I began blogging and seeing people's different types of collections it make me notice so many different things on cards that I didn't before. I started a collection of cards with American flags on them to get into the act myself.

  2. See if any players have the same birthday you have, or some from the town where you grew up or something like that. Everyone should have a good player and a low-lying player that they collect. That way you can always score some of the big name in trades, and you can occasionally find some autos/relics of the lower player in trades and on ebay.

  3. I agree with Spankee. Before I branched out my collecting I used to go after cards of MLB journeyman Bruce Chen since we share the same birthday. I've since moved on to other collecting goals, but Spankee and BA both make valid points. I just started collecting pitchers shown on cardboard batting and it does make looking at random cards that much more fun. Whatever you decide to do good luck!

  4. I think I have the same OCD condition that you described. I'm working on the 2010 Topps set, and I also collect Cardinals. So I have to have two cards for every Cardinal. One to go in the set so all the cards are in numerical order and there are none missing, and another card to go in my Cardinals binder.

I like some of the ideas I'm seeing here. Birthdays, American flags...all great ideas. But the pitchers batting won't work very well if you're an American League guy.
